Joaquin Phoenix's PETA ad titled Drowing is banned from Oscar telecast (video)
Peta and and Oscar nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix teamed up for a new animal rights commercial. This commercial was set to air during the Oscars. According to PETA, ABC will not air the advertisement for being, "too political and controversial.” Joaquin Phoenix does not often make public appearances, but when he does, it is to make a statement.
This short commercial is portraying what a fish goes through when being pulled out of water. The Best Actor nominee narrates during the advertisement. In the ad placement, Joaquin Phoenix says, “In water, humans drown just as fish suffocate on land. It's slow and painful and frightening.” The unfortunate fact is that this video message is true.
